The Black Figure

As Claire and Max settled into their new home, they couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. Their mother had disappeared to go partying as soon as they arrived, leaving them to unpack and settle in on their own. Claire couldn't shake the feeling of being watched, and every time she looked out of the window, she saw the black figure standing in the same spot, watching their every move.

Max noticed his sister's unease and tried to calm her down. "It's probably just a neighbor or something," he said, trying to reassure her. But Claire knew it wasn't just a neighbor. There was something off about the figure, and it made her skin crawl.

That night, as they were getting ready for bed, Claire heard a noise outside her window. She cautiously approached the window and saw the black figure standing outside, staring right at her. She gasped and stumbled back, falling onto her bed.

"What is it?" Max asked, rushing to her side.

Claire pointed outside and said, "Look, it's that black figure again. It's been watching us since we got here."

Max looked outside and saw the figure for himself. He felt a shiver run down his spine, but he tried to remain calm for his sister's sake. "Maybe we should tell Mom about this," he suggested.

Claire shook her head. "No, she won't believe us. We have to figure this out on our own."

The next day, while their mother was still passed out from her night of partying, Claire and Max decided to investigate the black figure. They snuck out of the house and approached the figure, trying to get a closer look.

As they got closer, the figure suddenly turned around and ran away. Claire and Max chased after it, but it was too fast for them. They lost sight of it and returned home, feeling defeated.

That night, as they were getting ready for bed again, they heard a knock at the door. They cautiously approached the door and saw the black figure standing on their doorstep. It held out a piece of paper, which read, "I know what you're looking for. Meet me tomorrow at midnight at the abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of town."

Claire and Max were hesitant, but they knew they had to find out what was going on. They agreed to meet the figure at the warehouse the next night.

As they made their way to the warehouse the next night, they couldn't help but feel like they were walking into a trap. But they had to know what was going on.

When they arrived at the warehouse, they saw the black figure waiting for them. It stepped forward and revealed itself to be a teenage boy, around their age.

"I know what you're looking for," he said. "You're looking for answers about your father's death."

Claire and Max were shocked. "How did you know that?" Claire asked.

The boy explained that he had been watching them since they moved in, and he had seen the way their mother had treated them. He had also overheard their conversations about their father's death and knew that they were searching for answers.

"I can help you find the answers," he said. "But you have to trust me."

Claire and Max looked at each other, unsure of what to do. But they knew they had to take a chance. They nodded and followed the boy into the warehouse, ready to uncover the truth about their father's death.
